American Legion Rider of the Year Proposal & Instructions
An annual award will be given to recognize an American Legion Rider member who truly cares for the welfare of others including the community and various organizations.
The recipient shall be a member in good standing of the American Legion Riders
The recipient shall be recognized as having met the following:
- The impact on the lives of others around the environment
- The concern of community and involvement in a cause or situation which benefits others
- Perform duties that go above and beyond in helping and aiding individuals by displaying extraordinary leadership
All nominees will be submitted to your Regional Director with a letter of nomination reflecting the reason that this person would be qualified as American Legion Rider of the Year.
The letter should be limited to the two page note containing information that explains and relates directly to the nominee.
The election committee will be comprised of all seven Regional Directors. Each Regional Director will nominate ONE Rider from their perspective Region, however a Regional Director CANNOT vote for a Rider from their own Region. The Candidates will be allowed to speak at Spring DEC. A final decision will be made after all Regional Directors have voted at the State Convention. All nominees and letters must be presented to the appropriate American Legion Riders Regional Director by Spring Regional meeting.
